Data Scientist (medior)

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and validate models for quality control of solar, meteorological, and photovoltaic (PV) power production data
  • Design, develop, and validate of models for detection of trends and anomalies in environmental and PV production data from various sources worldwide
  • Lead and support junior data scientists in their tasks
  • Focus on scientific and AI methods for historical time series, real time data monitoring, processing, data storage, and forecasting 
  • Test and implement developed solutions into real-time cloud & on-prem delivery infrastructure (in collaboration with data engineers)
  • Review the statistical and machine learning approaches in the domain of environmental and energy data and evaluate their suitability for our use cases
  • Contribute to customer support and customer-focus projects related to analysis of solar radiation, environmental data, and performance of PV power plants
  • Write scientific papers, technical documentation, and expert reports
  • Cooperate with teams on improving of data infrastructure, methods, and processes
  • Prepare analyses for internal stakeholders and identify areas where we could improve our solutions
  • Participate and present at scientific events, conferences, technical workshops, customer visits, and webinars

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree from technical discipline or science (physics, mathematics, geography, meteorology, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of Python
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and solid understanding of machine learning
  • Experience with Python data analysis packages e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with CI/CD, git, and (No)SQL databases is a plus
  • Capability to provide end-to-end solutions
  • Ability to lead junior colleagues to implement successful solutions
  • Sense for detail, generalisation, and finding the spots where the models could break
  • Preference to implement simple well-thought clever solutions rather than complex and complicated machineries
  • Ability to clearly communicate the results and adjust the plan when more facts are known
  • Understanding the position of Solargis on the market and actively contributing to maintaining its unique position
  • Ability to operate, monitor and develop the dedicated company data infrastructure
  • Communication in English

Information on the conditions of personal data processing

Your personal data contained in the job application and its attachments (e.g. in the CV) will be processed in accordance with the applicable legislation, in particular the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) no. 2016/679 ("GDPR"). We send your application for employment and its attachments only to our internal employees and departments responsible for the application process. Your personal data will not be provided or made available to any third party.

Purposes and legal basis for the processing:

We will process and use your personal data only in connection with the processing of your application for employment in our company. Based on the data provided, we will decide on your suitability for the job. The legal basis for such processing of personal data is the adoption of steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract (pre-contractual relations) under Art. 6 (1) letter b) of the GDPR. In case your application is successful, the data you have provided can be used during the course of your employment relationship. The legal basis of such processing is the performance of the employment contract under Art. 6 (1) letter b) of the GDPR.

Storage period:

If we cannot offer you employment with our company, we will delete the data you have provided during the application process.

In case you would like your application to be considered also for future vacancies, you have the possibility to grant the consent with the retention of your personal data for the period of two (2) years. If you consent to this, we will contact you if you have the necessary qualifications for another position that is to be occupied during this period. You can revoke the consent at any time by sending an email to jobs@solargis.com. In case of revocation, we will immediately stop processing the respective personal data and delete them, unless there is another legal basis for their further processing. However, any processing performed before the revocation of your consent will remain lawful.

Rights of data subject:

In connection with the processing of your data you have the rights of data subject under Art. 15 et seq. of the GDPR, namely:

  • the right of access to personal data (providing a copy of personal data) and the right to information on the terms of processing of personal data within the scope of the Art. 15 of GDPR;
  • the right to request the rectification and completion of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
  • the right to erasure the personal data for the reasons set out in the Art. 17 of GDPR,
  • the right to restrict the processing of personal data in the cases provided for in the Art. 18 of GDPR,
  • the right to transfer the personal data to another controller.
