Documentation Getting started

solargis.info or apps.solargis.com?

Solargis apps are available on 2 separate websites. In 2010 the first suite of apps (iMaps, pvPlanner, climData, and pvSpot) were released and are available from solargis.info

Since 2018, we have been working on the next generation of apps (Prospect, Evaluate, Monitor, and Forecast) that will eventually replace the apps on solargis.info. The new Prospect app is now accessible from apps.solargis.com. The other apps (Evaluate, Monitor, and Forecast) are in development.

Currently, we are in a transition phase and you may require access to both websites.

To get started we recommend creating a user account on solargis.info. You can then use the same login credentials on apps.solargis.com

Creating a user account (solargis.info)

To create a new account, you need To provide your email address and set a password. The process is as follows:
On Solargis front page click on the Sign in link, situated in the top right corner (follow the picture below),

create account

Then click on the Create account link from the Sign in dialog box.

Then, you will be asked to:

  1. Enter your email address and captcha from the picture
  2. A temporary password will be sent to your email inbox; use this password to sign in for the first time
  3. Then, you will be asked to set a new password for your account
  4. You are ready to use Solargis as a registered user

Changing password

To change the password of your account, go to Sign-in menu and in the bottom of the pop-up dialog click Forgot your password. In the next screen, you will need to type your email address (existing login to Solargis) and confirm. An email will be sent to your inbox, providing the link, where you will be able to reset your password.

Updating email address associated with your account

Your Solargis account username is same as your email address.

To use Solargis services with a new email address you will have to create a new user account with a new email address. Once you have created a new account, you can request a transfer of iMaps, pvPlanner, and pvSpot subscriptions from the old account to the new account.

Bookmarks can be transferred from old account to new account using the following steps:

  1. From your old account, click on the site manager icon (it is located next to 'zoom' under 'site list' header, please see picture below)
  2. Select the sites you want to keep and select export to kml/xls file
  3. From your new account, click on the site manager icon, select import and choose the previous kml/xls file. Now you will see the bookmarked sites under site list of your new account.

Please note that for the moment it is not possible to transfer purchase history from your old account to the new account.
