DC to AC ratio

pvPlanner shows energy output for optimally sized PV system. Potential losses resulting from oversizing or undersizing of the array are not considered.

For accurate modelling of inverter clipping losses, it is recommended to run energy simulation using multiyear time series data as input. pvPlanner is a pre-feasibility tool designed to provide results within seconds. To achieve this, pvPlanner makes use of a simplifed PV simulation approach based on statistical aggregation of solar radiation data. This simplified approach does not allow for realistic calculation of inverter clipping losses.

Calculation of inverter clipping losses is implemented in full version of Solargis simulation engine. One can access the full version simulation engine via Solargis API/FTP service. We plan to make available this feature also via new versions of climData and pvSpot online apps (expected release in mid-2019).
