How to view project results

To view your project results please follow this:

  1. Open your project from the map view
  2. Unfold the left side panel
  3. Go through the sections offered by Prospect: overview, solar and meteo data, PV performance, etc.

How to download project reports

Follow this for downloading reports from your stored projects:

  1. Login to Prospect application, select your location on the map, save and open the project.

  2. Click Project detail and Reports.

  3. Choose the format, Generate and Download the file to your computer.

How to download the meteo data for my sites

If you just need the basic meteo data in CSV format:

  1. Login to Solargis Prospect application, select your location on the map, save and open the project.
  2. Click Project detail and Data.

  3. Download the CSV file to your computer.

Please note that our meteo data CSV includes the effect of the horizon. To get CSV files without horizon shading applied, please see this section.

If you are doing a simulation using a third party software, please be aware that:

  • You are working with CSV monthly averages in a third party simulator; from those 12 monthly values there will be a generation of 8760 hourly values done synthetically.

  • You need to save the Horizon profile, save it for uploading it into your third party simulator, and clearing it before downloading the CSV file containing irradiance monthly averages.

Extracting albedo values of your site

For extracting the albedo values for your project, the best way is to can download your project report in XSLX format, and then find the column that contains monthly albedo values in the file.

How to change units for the values shown in the tables?

For changing the units across Prospect pages, you can click on the “settings” icon from the top right and configure units using the drop down lists. There you can choose the units for: latitude and longitude, terrain elevation, solar radiation, temperature; you can also decide whether you want to see values as daily or annual averages.

It is also possible to change the units used directly in the result pages. For doing that, go to Summary or Glossary tabs, click on the little arrow next to the unit and select the preferred unit from the drop-down.

Why is the GHI value on map different from the project detail section?

The GHI values that you see in both map and project detail section at the same coordinates are GHI after considering horizon shading losses. The only difference is that:

  • In the project detail section, GHI is calculated using horizon shading at a resolution of ~90m.
  • In the map layer, for faster calculation we use horizon shading data at a resolution of ~250m.

As a result, there is a small difference in regions with hilly terrain, where you may observe differences in GHI values when comparing data shown on the map against the values in the project detail section.

Can I use Prospect data in third party software (PVsyst, SAM, etc)?

You can use Solargis data as a meteo source for your simulations in other simulation tools like PVsyst, SAM or Helioscope. For reliable PV simulations, one needs not only good PV simulation tools but also reliable solar resource data.

Please note that Prospect csv files contain monthly averaged data (12 values). Most of the simulators will convert monthly values into hourly (8760 values) by using a synthetic generator, resulting in higher uncertainty of the results. It is estimated that the use of synthetically generated data using monthly aggregations as input increases uncertainty by 1-2%.

If you need data for accurate simulation you need real hourly or subhourly data. Please know more about this product under Evaluate.
