Improvement was made in the handling of data from concurrent GOES-EAST satellites (GOES-13 and GOES-14) when data from both satellites are available. The improvement helps to better cope with missing data.
Small corrections were made to solar radiation data for China and Japan for period 01-07/2017
Correction was made to AOD (aerosol optical depth) inputs used in Solargis model for region around longitude 180E
Due to the integration of data inputs from the new IODC MSG satellite mission, Solargis operational data with daily updates is now available for most of India and Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. For this region, the original time resolution for recent data periods (since February 2017) is now 15-minutes instead of 30-minutes.
We have incorporated new improvements into the PV simulation models we use for Time Series of expected PV production (PVOUT) for CdTe modules technology. Recent time series of expected PV production for CdTe are available via pvSpot; historical time series are available through climData upon request.
Solargis operational data with daily updates are available for Africa as well. From now on, pvSpot online platform is working for sites across the African continent. Previously only the Southern part was covered. Automatic delivery of daily updates of sub-hourly data is also available for this region via pvSpot FTP service.
Americas - we use daily aerosol data from MERRA-2 database for 1999-2002 and we reanalyzed data for 2015.
Global - we post-processed temperature data using regional correction coefficients - bias reduction and multi-model data homogenization. Algorithm for TMY creation was improved.
We improved aerosol data pre-processing and harmonization for Middle East and eastern Turkey to Pakistan (western border of India) and Kazakhstan.
We also speed-up our data delivery in MTSAT (2006/07-2015/12) and MFG-PRIME (1994-2004) covering Europe, Africa, Eastern Asia, Eastern Pacific, Australia, N. Zealand.
Data periods for Eastern Asia, Australia and New Zealand have been extended; with this update, the model used for iMaps and pvPlanner now represents data up to 2015 for all the regions. More updates will follow as soon as new complete years are available.
In addition, the use of daily aerosol data in iMaps and pvPlanner is now implemented for Americas, Hawaii and Western Pacific. The calculation of the optimum angle for Europe, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia has been also improved.
