In comparison with most of the other countries in our Download section, for Zambia, a regional data accuracy enhancement procedure was performed. A solar and meteorological measurement campaign was carried out on the meteorological sites located across the country for a period of two years with the aim of reducing the uncertainty and improving the accuracy of solar resource models. The project was funded by the ESMAP, under a global initiative in support of renewable energy resource assessment and mapping, administered by the World Bank and supported by donors.
In addition to long-term annual data, the GIS data package include also monthly data layers. For more information and to download reports, please visit the ESMAP RE resource mapping website. These maps and data have been released simultaneously with the Global Solar Atlas.

We elaborated country factsheet, involving the information on solar resource and PV power potential country statistics, seasonal electricity generation variations, LCOE estimates and cross-correlation with the relevant socio-economic indicators. It is a part of the study "Global Photovoltaic Power Potential by Country", published by The World Bank and accessible at Global Solar Atlas. It provides an aggregated and harmonized view on solar resource and PV power potential from the perspective of countries and regions.

Renewable Energy Resource Mapping program for Zambia is the initiative of the World Bank and financed by ESMAP. Solargis was selected to provide an expertise on solar resource and photovoltaic power potential in the region. The methodology and the results are presented in the following documents:
Please note that Solargis was renamed from GeoModel Solar in June 2016.
